Dragonfly Catcher

My favourite haiku by Fukuda Chiyo-Ni. Perhaps this is so because it was the first haiku that had an emotional impact on me. The background of the poet made that possible by revealing the reason for writing. It was inspired after the writer lost a child who liked to search for dragonflies.

                                Dragonfly catcher,

                                Where today

                                have you gone?
